An insanely underrated AI tool creative strategists should be using

I’ve tested 50+ AI tools - this is one of the best...

Hey guys,

Move over ChatGPT and Claude…you’re old news!!

Welllll…not really. But there is another tool I’ve been playing with lately and LOVING it - and that’s Poppy AI.

Poppy is what’s called an AI wrapper - meaning it allows you to pick a model to chat with (like Claude or GPT) but with a crucial difference: it lets you add context in through different inputs. Inputs like:

  • YouTube videos

  • TikToks

  • Instagram reels

  • Documents

  • Websites

  • Text

  • Voice messages

Poppy's mind-map interface

And the cool thing is, it does it all in this really intuitive mind-map style UI to let you build your own AI workflows.

The real magic happens when we apply this to ad creation.

So let’s take a look at an example we created…

The "Copycat Agent" Workflow

This is a workflow we built internally lets us take ads we like and recreate them for our own brands.

Here's exactly how I set it up:

Step 1: Create a Knowledge Base

First, I gave Poppy context about what makes great static ads. I actually transcribed one of my YouTube videos about static ads using Poppy, then uploaded that document as a knowledge base.

I transcribed one of my YouTube videos using Poppy, then uploaded the transcript as a document to create a knowledge base

Step 2: Add Brand Context

Next, I connected:

  • The brand's website

  • Product pages

  • A research summary with benefits, pain points, features, objections, and failed solutions

I added a group in Poppy which contained all the information about ‘The Perfect Jean’

Step 3: Add Ad Examples

I pulled in static templates from ad libraries that I wanted to recreate.

Step 4: Connect Everything

I connected all these elements by dragging nodes to link them together (if you don't want Poppy to consider something, just don't connect it).

I connected all the groups and documents to the built-in, AI chat inside of Poppy

Step 5: Prompt for Headlines

I then asked Poppy to rewrite the static example headline for my brand, and requested multiple options.

Here’s the prompt I used:

Look at the knowledge base on how to make great static ads and the context about my brand. Then look at the static example I have given you, and rewrite the static ad for my brand in my tone and style.

When rewriting it, I want you to give your main headline idea first - then alternate headline ideas below.

And I have to say, the results that come out of this are surprisingly good.

You can even adjust the prompt to get it to format it just like your briefs that get sent to your graphic designer, so it’ll effectively create a ready-made brief based on the example static ad.

We actually took this one step further and built a board with 150 static ads from different DTC brands.

Our 150 static ads board inside of Poppy

Now anytime, we want to make one of these ads, we just pull in context about our brand, connect the nodes and Poppy will write the brief to recreate them.

The use cases here are limitless. You can analyze competitors, write ad briefs, brainstorm hook visuals and so much more all from inside Poppy. It’s like Claude, but on steroids. And it’s not just for advertisers too…

Other Use Cases For Poppy

Here are a few cool other use cases I’ve seen for Poppy users so far.

1. Building Context Libraries

If there’s one thing you can do to improve your outputs from ChatGPT, it’s to build a context library.

Contexts libraries are banks of content that you can attach to your prompts.

For example, when I added the ‘How to create static ads’ document to my static recreation board.

And what’s great is that you can easily create context libraries inside Poppy.

Just say turn this YouTube video into a 1 page document (or something along those lines), then stockpile masses of context to improve the strength of your context in new prompts.

2. Content Repurposing

I’ve actually used Poppy to repurpose tweets into Linkedin posts. I’ve trained it on who my audience is, how to write on Twitter, how to write on Linkedin and how to take a tweet and turn it into a Linkedin post.

It saves me SO much time every week. Don’t worry though, I am sitting here in Cape Town manually typing out this email. It doesn’t do all of my content…yet :)

3. Data Driven Content Generation

Not something that I’ve done personally, but in theory, you could pull in analytics from organic or paid platforms, give Poppy context about your brand and ask it to provide data-driven recommendations for posts or ads.

A friend of mine I was speaking to recently who works at a Fortune 500 company uploaded one of his competitors’ earnings report, gave it context of his brand - and now just regularly interacts with that board for insight on how to position himself against competitors.

It’s not that this can’t be done inside of ChatGPT, but it’s way easier with Poppy’s mind map-style UI.

And here’s the beauty of this tool…like CustomGPTs or Claude Projects, once you've set these boards up, you’ve got them forever.

Now, anytime I see an ad I want to recreate on the feed, I drag it into Poppy and it gives me a v1 brief to recreate that ad for my brand.

I’d highly recommend giving Poppy a try if you haven’t already. Click the link here to get started today.

And for the record, this isn’t sponsored, but this is an affiliate link. I’ve been speaking about Poppy waaay before I had an affiliate link haha.

P.S. shoutout to Eddie for the idea for this week’s email! Let me know what you’d like us to cover next. Always open to feedback as to how to make these emails better :)
